White sulphur deposits at a waterfall
This flower clock was v difficult to find, my hair was burning when we found this around noon time
The bus driver let us off at a v ulu place and we had to trek 20 mins under the blistering sun to this nice area with hai yu
At the gu xiang restaurant, where all the staff are really courteous and nice.
I think this was kampung chicken
my favourite dish~ young bamboo shoots with other veg, mushroom and minced pork
Wild boar meat: there was jiu cheng ta (a spice) in this, more pungent than the normal spring onion.
More pictures of hai yu. Didn't manage to take a picture of this violent little boy who managed to smash a stalk of hai yu into bits within minutes and threw it into the stream..wah..
on the way to xinbeitou for a hot spring
Some pictures outside a tribal info centre
At a hot spring museum, said to be where the Japanese had their hot springs when they occupied Taiwan
Exhausted....where's the water?
At the hot spring. The water in the middle pool was really hot.
But this was my favourite, the water from the shower was v stinky but the water coming in from the bamboo pipe was fantastically cool. Wish they had a cold spring instead here... We kept alternating between hot spring and cold water showers. See the water level, we used cold water faster than it came in from the bamboo pipe.
Train and then a bus to Danshui
Fishballs and the ah gei with tang hoon inside
Back to shilin for shopping, had ah zhong mian xian to stave off the cold
